DamageTracker was developed in 2011, after a need for collecting damage assessment data after major emergencies and disasters for a local Emergency Management Agency. This application was initially developed as a single-user solution utilizing Microsoft Excel; however as times changed and needs have grown; a multi-user and multi-site solution was developed.
DamageTracker is now a web-based application, utilizing MySQL Relational Databases and PHP Scripting. The application is powerful enough to meet an agencies needs, and still be able to be used on a smart-phone or tablet so that field assessment teams can add data remotely (pending that they have Internet connectivity).
This allows the Emergency Operations Center to start having real-time damage assessment data, without having to wait for field crews to return and tabulate data.
